AMANDA & SHAY’S STORY
An LGBT Wedding Ceremony at Pilau Freshwater Beach
Amanda & Shay’s Wedding at Pilau at Freshwater Beach Sydney
Amanda & Shay started their wedding day getting ready at Q-Station in Manly. Q-Station was originally a quarantine station before being converted into hotel-style accomodation. The architecture has a classically Australian vibe. It’s a wonderful place for photographs, with lots of verandahs, water tanks, corridors and passageways with amazing light.
Q-Station also has a old-style greenhouse, which is fantastic for photos.
We shot the girls portraits all around Q-Station before heading to Pilau at Freshwater for their ceremony and lunchtime reception with family and friends.
Their ceremony was beautiful and Pilau is such a lovely setting, with the ocean in the background. It was a bright and sunny day and during the ceremony the light was coming from the side, so Amanda was in shade while Shay was getting hit full in the face with bright sunlight.
This is one of those situations where I feel my years of experience paid off. Before the ceremony I spoke with Amanda and Shay and their celebrant. I asked them to swap places during the reading of their vows. This allowed me to get flattering shots of both girls, and it gave them a break from the sun.
After the ceremony family and friends congratulated the newlyweds. Then of course we had to hit Freshwater beach for some final wedding portraits!
“Brendan was absolutely amazing! He was so friendly and made us feel very relaxed cracking jokes all day. Brendan took beautiful photos and even took the time to check out our venue for good photo opportunities the day before. Brendan went over and above and we would 100% recommend him to anyone looking for someone to take beautiful wedding photos”
