Elopements Micro Weddings & Civil Ceremonies
The Best Pyrmont Registry Photographer
Pyrmont Registry is a wonderful venue for elopements and micro weddings.
I shoot wedding ceremonies at Pyrmont Registry so often that I’ve decided to create a gallery solely devoted to the weddings I’ve photographed at the registry and in the immediate surrounds.
Pyrmont, with it’s stunning harbour views, stylish modern architecture, a small park and a beautiful sailing ship moored on the quay, makes for stunning backdrops for wedding photos.
The registry staff are warm and friendly and will take you through your pre-ceremony interview and wedding ceremony with ease. The registry is a very busy place, with a ceremony starting every thirty minutes on peak days, so everything must run efficiently and everyone needs to aim to arrive early to avoid delays. I’m a firm believer that in the wedding game, if you are on time you are in fact late! Sydney traffic can be unforgiving, especially on Fridays and weekends, plus guests will need to allow time for parking at The Star Casino as there’s very little street parking close to the registry.
Registry ceremonies are by their nature brief, fifteen to twenty minutes maximum.
As your photographer you can relax and be assured I know how to maximise coverage during your ceremony, capturing every moment in a candid style. I shoot with a combination of wide and telephoto zoom lenses. This allows me to gather a variety of angles while working unobtrusively with minimal disturbance to your guests.
Preparation is vital to every wedding, big or small and I always approach each wedding with a plan in mind. Essential to this is having a well thought-out list for the group portraits. If possible I like to shoot these outside on the wharf, but if the weather is against us we will need to shoot these portraits immediately after the ceremony, in the room. We will only have maybe ten minutes for this, so a list of the surnames of the various clans we need to call is invaluable!
I hope as you look through these galleries you will feel confident that you can have a wonderful wedding while keeping to a budget and receive stunning photos without having to compromise!

Katie & Daniel’s Micro Wedding
Katie and Daniel held their big wedding day in the south of France. To officially tie the knot they opted for an intimate ceremony with close friends at Pyrmont.
It was a perfect sunny day so after the ceremony we shot our group portraits outside on the wharf. As well as portraits of the couple I also photographed everyone in multiple groups as everyone had such a great vibe.
After a tour of Pyrmont we headed over to Sydney Opera House for some portraits and finished up with a shot of the couple outside the restaurant where they had their first date!
“Brendan from Love is Light was the amazing photographer that photographed our registry wedding.
The photos are beautiful and an absolute joy to have. Brendan was so positive and friendly throughout the day and went above and beyond. He knew so many great spots to take photos and was more than happy to accomodate any requests. Would happily work with Brendan again in the future and would recommend him to everyone!”
Tayla & Cody’s Civil Wedding Ceremony
Tayla & Cody packed the room out with family and friends for their civil ceremony!
It was a very hot day and with so many guests to organise for group photos I took everyone up to the park so we could shoot in the shade with a lovely harbour breeze keeping everyone comfortable.
Tayla & Cody had booked the two hour package for $900, so we stayed in Pyrmont for the couple’s portraits, finishing up with the amazing view to Barangaroo as our backdrop.
Emma & Katie’s Wedding - Pyrmont to Paddington
Emma & Katie brought their two beautiful families together for their wedding ceremony at Pyrmont.
The couple’s children were gathered around the couple for their vows and it was a beautiful scene. It was a midday ceremony with bright sunshine, so I photographed all the group portraits in the shade of the building to ensure the most flattering results for everyone.
Emma & Katie booked for three hours at a total cost of $1,200 so we had some extra time to head over to Paddington Reservoir for additional bridal portraits. I then dropped the newlyweds off at Darling Harbour where a celebratory lunch awaited them.
Clara & Martin’s Wedding
Clara & Martin had a big guest list for their wedding ceremony at Pyrmont Registry and a fun and smiling bunch they were too!
It was a hot day so I elected to shoot all the group portraits in the ceremony room. Here, being properly prepared with a list of the different groups we needed to capture really paid off. After the ceremony we needed to have everyone on the record within ten minutes, so being well prepared makes all the difference in such moments.
I took the couple on a greatest hits tour of Pyrmont while their guests took a stroll to the lunch reception venue, The Zebra Lounge Waterfront Lounge. I was there to record the couple’s very touching speeches, toasted with coffee cups, before leaving them to enjoy the rest of the afternoon by the harbour.
“We booked Love is Light for our special day, and Brendan was fantastic from start to finish.
He responded quickly, helped with planning, and was incredibly professional throughout the process. Before the event, he sent a detailed email to confirm everything, and on the day he arrived on time, well-prepared, and ready to capture every moment.
The photos turned out beautifully, we’ve already received them and are so impressed with how he captured candid moments and genuine expressions of us and our guests. Brendan even went above and beyond by giving us a lift from the photo location to our brunch venue. Even when we ran a little over time, he handled it with ease and without any stress.
The photos are stunning and perfectly captured the joy of our special day. We couldn’t be happier and highly recommend Brendan as a photographer!”
Jessica & Giorgio’s Rainy Day Wedding
It was a rainy day for Jessica & Giorgio’s wedding. The couple wanted to start with a first look.
I recommended using the grove of gum trees just opposite the registry, so we had some shelter from the rain, which thankfully stopped just as we started shooting.
A first look needs careful orchestration for it to work on camera. I like to start with a portrait of the bride, then signal the groom to start his approach, capturing their individual expressions as he makes his way forward. Then I ask the couple to pause for a beat while I switch position to a side view to capture the first look moment and the couple’s reactions.
You can see how much atmosphere the rain added, with the wooden boards of the wharf glossy and reflective, which looks great. As the afternoon was starting to clear we were able to shoot all our group portraits on the wharf before a whistle stop tour of the best spots for the couple’s portraits.
All this was achieved with just the two hour package costing $900!
“Thank you so much Brendan!
And thank you again for sharing and capturing our special day. We are so grateful to you and love how the pictures turned out!”
David & Stan’s Same Sex Wedding
David & Stan flew to Sydney to get married as sadly same sex marriage is still not recognised in China.
We started with the guys getting ready at their hotel before driving over to the registry. We were early, so to make the most of the time and provide the best value for money I got started on some portraits using the lovely grove of gum trees opposite the registry as a backdrop.
After the ceremony we hit the highlights around Pyrmont before heading for Observatory Park and The Rocks for more portraits, finishing up at Dawes Point with it’s awesome views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Opera House.
We had everything done in three hours, a total package cost of just $1,200!
“Brendan was absolutely wonderful to work with! He is such a nice guy and made the whole experience so enjoyable and stress-free for us.
The photos turned out amazing—we are so happy with the results. Highly recommend him if you’re looking for a talented and friendly photographer!”
