Sandie & John’s Wedding Day
We started the day visiting the couple at their parents homes where they got ready with their groomsmen and bridesmaids respectively. I met John at the Cathedral of the Annunciation of Our Lady in Redfern and got ready for Sandie’s arrival with her Dad in a vintage Rolls Royce.
The cathedral is stunning, bedecked with icons and gold leaf. The couple held a traditional Greek ceremony as family and friends looked on. When editing I went with much warmer tones than usual as that best captured the atmosphere in the cathedral.
After the ceremony I took the couple and their bridal party to one of my favourite places for portraits, Paddington Reservoir. With it’s vintage red-brick arches and modern steel walkways, the reservoir offers a variety of looks within a small area, which allows us to work quickly and get back to the party.
Sandie and John held their wedding reception at Watersedge at Campbell's Stores, in the heart of the Rocks. We took a few minutes to capture some portraits with the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge as the backdrop.
Watersedge at Campbell's Stores is a lovely venue, with function rooms hosted in a heritage brick warehouse on Hickson Road.
Formalities flew by, as family members made speeches (and told some stories) before it was time to cut the cake and get down to some fast and furious Greek dancing. The perfect finish to a Watersedge wedding!
